Children of Avedøre (1981)
In the early 1980s I was asked to an exhibition of landscape photographs for Avedøre Library. When I went to visit the library there was a lot of children running about and playing, which gave me the idea for an exhibition with a completely different theme.
I arrived at the library playroom one morning with my backdrop, a box of dressing-up clothes, and a couple of lamps. The children chose the clothes they wore and their role in the of the camera. I love the images, but am aware that this kind of casual set-up with children and a photographer would be unthinkable today.
